MISSION

In Lieu Of Forgetting is a project that aims to find a way to remember that every life lost to Covid-19 in Pakistan was more than just a number.

Ever since 2020, times have been difficult. Death has lingered closer than ever, and everything seems to be under the domino effect. It has been hard to pause, grasp, process, and absorb. A barrage of information— most of it bad— has overruled our lives.

People became casualties. A mere number. Each death only added another digit to the total number of death tolls per day. The departed souls’ lived lives, experiences, relationships, friendships, secrets, and quirks diminished with them.

But, there is hope, to reignite the value of their existence. And, remember them— because their lives mattered and their absence matters.

Here’s to commemorating the lives of people we lost by remembering stories about them, mourning their losses together, and coming together as a community to get through this heart-wrenching grief.
